This is my old portfolio made for Design VI. Down here I translate what I think is worth highlighting, I took the liberty of making some updates and changes.
Presentation and Ideology
We have overcome the idea that design has a social role -without other intentions-.
“Advertising is the art of convincing people to spend money they don't have for something they don't need.” - Will Rogers.
My job is/ will be to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. I strongly believe that one should have an ethic for what one does, some money cannot jeopardize ones principles. I believe that design can help to the processes of socialization, to release scientific information, improve public wayfinding and democratizing access to information All governments and social organizations should realize that graphic design is a powerful tool for communicating economic, cultural, health and social inclusion campaigns.
What is design?
The design is a projectual and strategic activity. My design process is based on three phases: analytic, creative and executive. The first one is the field research, meetings, information gathering and analysis of the situation. The second one is what people usually call 'design', the fun part: sketches, drawings, photographs, recording, and everything you need to achieve a finished product. The last one is making the final product ready, printing, publishing, hosting, etc.
“ A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” -Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
Techniques and Inspiration
Xylography is an ancient technique of copying. The interesting thing about this process is achieving high sensitivity images and textures.
Animation is a fun activity not just 3d, but doing stopmotion, claymation, etc.
Video editing and filming short movies or clips is something I enjoy so much.
Webdesign is something I want to explode much more, I work with CSS3, HTML5, PHP, XCODE and with CMS like drupal.
Illustration keeps it fresh. Illustration has no limits and keeps feeding my design process.
“To photograph people is to violate them, by seeing them as they never see themselves, by having knowledge of them that they can never have; it turns people into objects that can be symbolically possessed. Just as a camera is a sublimation of the gun, to photograph someone is a subliminal murder - a soft murder, appropriate to a sad, frightened time.” - Susan Sontag.
My hobbies are constantly helping with role as designer. I paint, dance jazz, do trapeze, aerial silk, hike, listen to music. I find myself immersed in an art world that helps me every time with the creative phase of design.
Photography is a tool I could not think appart from design. I've done analogic and digital photography. I've done chemigrams and used a scanner.
